IT’S TIME TO BRING FEMININE BALANCE TO THE CHIROPRACTIC PROFESSION.
Ok, let’s get this truthbomb out of the way before I get to the gooood stuff: I have been a member of this profession for 20 years and honestly not enough has changed.
I am committed to making a difference for the future doctors of the future.
Flash back with me to a few key memories …
Like the time post-graduation that I wrote a business plan & had it reviewed by another well known chiropractor who told me that it ‘wouldn’t work.”
Or the time I had a local chiropractor come into my practice in my first 6 months posing as a patient to see what I was doing
Or how about answering the phone in my own practice and have someone ask to speak to the Doctor?
I look back on that time and can see that I didn’t feel supported and really struggled to find a practice model that was right for me (even though my wife and I started our own practice fresh out of school).
It took me a long time with a lot of years of feeling really isolated in my own profession to find myself. I love the ‘me’ I found in the room with my patients and the students in my classroom and college office.
I found my voice and my gift of connecting with another human beings in a space of vulnerability. I love the aspect of practice that allowed me to explore compassion and empathy for others while creating boundaries for myself and a safe space for my patients to heal & grow.
One of my favorite things to talk about in mentorship is about the "feeling" of power - we know we are powerful when others can come and take what they need and it takes nothing from you. This happens when we step fully into our gifts & use our own unique voice.
I love to share what I know and what has made the most difference for me in my ability to show up fully for myself, my patients, the students and Doctors I support.
I provide a space where you can fully express your vulnerabilities and I provide options and strategies for you, the Doctor.
It is often forgotten that this Doctor-Patient journey is your journey too!
I was in private practice from 2001 - 2014. At its smallest, it was wait-list only. At its biggest, I worked 22 patient hours per week, managed an entire team and the practice made $900k per year in a 900 sq ft space open 7 days a week.
I ran a health center and directed the clinical education of approximately 4000+ chiropractic students from 2014 - 2019 (5 yrs) at an accredited chiropractic college in the United States.
I have facilitated service retreats in Costa Rica, India and Mexico… providing care as well as assisting students and doctors in discovering the power of chiropractic.
Humblebrag time … I’m considered an ‘expert’ on a new remote patient management app - I am good at what I do. I love educating patients on health, the human body & its expression. To continually teach and remind.... we are always working towards health which only happens when we are without interference. And sometimes... just a little more congruent support or push in the right direction is needed.
Formal credentials...I am a left-brained vitalist:
BS - Biology/Psychology (Child Psychology)
MS - Neuroscience
DC - Chiropractor
DNM - Doctor of Natural Medicine (EBNMP)
AFMCP - Functional Medicine certified
I love being on a road bike riding in the sunshine with beautiful views & smells
I still own the sewing machine my mother gave me in high school
I play with clay... mostly hand building & studied in Japan for a month in 2019
I played the trombone & would have no idea how to play today
I don't like wearing socks or bras
I love sour jujubes (& I didn't realize until a few years ago that jujube was actually a fruit)
I love watching modern dance, it is like meditation for me
I am highly aesthetically inclined and for many years thought that this was vanity instead of a gift
I am a reluctant runner but run 20-30km/week
I have decided that I don't want to add any more years to my age right now... I need to catch up & stay present in my daily doings...
oh... & I build beautiful altars
"Chiropractic has informed every aspect of my life and the health of my family, my friends and my community for over 20 years. I embody the chiropractic principles not just in what I say and do, but how I live and breathe. WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“Dr Mac’s mentorship program is the best investment I have made since school. Every single time we meet I gain something that directly applies to my practice. And even in thinking about someday starting a practice from scratch, this helps evaluate what I do want...not just what I don’t want.”
